Growing up with the Dugdales

I grew up with the large family of Dugdales, we had some fun times and they were a lovely family and a credit to their parents. One particular memory I have is when I stayed for tea and to my amazement myself and Carole was asked to butter the bread,a full loaf and a half later we had finished and every slice got eaten!!!! My mother tells me the story of me going missing when I was only about three years old and she went to see Beatrice Maureen's mother to ask her if she had put me to bed by mistake with her children and she went upstairs to do a head count. I bumped into Maureen again about 10 years ago when she called into my place of work to ask if we would be interested in taking on an office junior on a work placement, she was a very kind and caring person and had a lovely nature. I then started going to Gala bingo and saw her there, we used to have a natter and catch up on news of her brothers and sisters and have a moan about not winning at bingo again! I was only saying to my mother about four weeks ago that I had not seen Maureen there in ages, she was always there on a Saturday night but thought nothing of it as I do not go very often now, I was totally shocked when I learnt she had died with the awful MND, she did not deserve to suffer in that way, but reading Graham's tribute to her he wrote for her funeral it sounds like she faced her illness with dignity and was very brave, there was standing room only at her funeral but I guess that says it all, I will remember Maureen as a kind, considerate and caring person with a happy smiling face. Goodnight Godbless Maureen Love from Janet Wilson
